What other travelers are saying about GALA Yuzawa Ski Resort

This place was amazing! As a tourist, I thought it was so convenient that you can just take the Shinkasen straight from Tokyo here. And the train lets out right into the resort! So convenient! The kids loved it and so did we. It makes day trips from Tokyo really easy. Lift prices are reasonable and there are quite a few runs of various levels. Next time. I'm in Japan during the snowy season, id definitely think about returning.

It was the perfect winter getaway for me and my 5-year-old daughter. We don’t ski or snowboard, but we still had an absolutely magical time from start to finish. Getting there was so easy—the Shinkansen drops you off right at the resort, which meant no stressful transfers or long car rides with a little one. The moment we stepped out, we were surrounded by breathtaking snowy mountain views. My daughter couldn’t stop squealing with joy! We spent hours playing in the designated snow play areas. The snow was soft and fluffy, perfect for making snowballs and building tiny snowmen. They even have sledding slopes that are gentle and safe for young children. We rented a sled on-site for a very reasonable price, and it was the highlight of her day. We also visited the onsite observation deck—the panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains was absolutely stunning. It felt like we were inside a winter postcard.

With my friend we took a snowboarding lesson with Diego, we both were first timers. Diego was very professional, he teaches with a lot of clarity and identifies well the needs and skills of the learners. We didn't expect to do as well as we did the first time and it's all thanks to Diego's patience and knowledge. Rental gear is available on site, then you need to pay for the lift which is 7,300 JPY. The lesson was 12,000 JPY per person for the group session which is from 9.30am to 12pm or in the afternoon also for 2.5 hours. The price is very reasonable, value is great. The place is beautiful and offers amazing views of the snowy mountains even if you don't participate in snowsports. Overall the staff are helpful and professional. The only criticism is the lack of food services at the main building. After the lift there is a food court. If you need to eat breakfast, better get something at a convenience store on the way, as it takes some time to go from the main building to after the lift.

Gala Yuzawa is the ultimate winter day trip from Tokyo! ❄️ Getting here is incredibly easy - the Shinkansen drops you off directly at the resort’s base. It’s perfect for beginners and families, with plenty of English-speaking staff and top-tier rental gear (the "Cowabunga" center is great!). The gondola ride offers stunning mountain views, and the Blue Jasmine slopes are a blast. Don’t miss the outdoor onsen after skiing - it’s the best way to defrost! ⛷️♨️ Highly recommended!
